Something You Don’t Know About The Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most popular and famous football teams in the entire National Football League. Over the years they have had great players like Roger Staubach, Bob Hayes, Troy Aikman, Harvey Martin, Tony Dorsett, Michael Irvin, Tony Romo, Emmitt Smith, Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Randy White, and Terrell Owens play for them. There is a great deal known about the Dallas Cowboys, but here is something you may not be aware of:
One of the strongest opponents to an NFL expansion team going into Dallas back in the late 1950s was the owner of the Washington Redskins. One of the ways that the ownership group of the Dallas franchise applied pressure to Redskins’ owner George Preston Marshall was by buying the rights to “Hail to the Redskins”, his team’s fight song. Marshall needed the song for his team’s home games and eventually relented, thus the Redskins obtained their fight song and the Dallas Cowboys came to be an NFL franchise.
